Easter garden in southern Spain

All the hard work has paid off and we feel reasonably on top of things. That oh-so English cottage garden plant, Hollyhock, that has sat in its spot for 2 years, has finally decided to grow and flower. In between the palm and the cypress along the back wall.
And here is a closer view. When she's in all her glory, I'll post another. No idea yet of the colour of the blooms.

And, finally, we've been able to find clematis companions for our Cardinal Rouge variety (on the left). Jackmanii (a deep purple) and Sealand Gem (a pinky apricot).
As usual, click on the picture for a better view.

Your garden looks lovely! I imagine that hollyhocks need a fair bit of water, so good luck with it!

Hi Jan. I guess the relentless rain in Jan/Feb did it some good. We managed to fill 4x 1000L rainwater tanks, so the hollyhock will receive a lot of TLC.

Am off now to see what you're up to.

We grew holly hocks from English saved seed and they thrived, but of course their popular name is
'Spanish Lady'.

Rust disease can be a problem with hollyhocks so make sure to save seed for new plants.

Happy Easter

I love hollyhocks ~ it will be great to see them in bloom. The Clematis look beautiful against the gorgeous-coloured wall. What a treat it is to see your garden.

Thanks Colin and Carol for the tips. These were from seed last year, given by a friend.

Kate, lovely to see you again. I've been very lax this year with blogging and visiting others. However, energy rising now as it gets warmer....
