PLANT IDENTIFICATION - help please.

This deep red leafed plant says "Euphorb Cotin" on the pot with no other instructions. Cannot find it anywhere. Euphorbias all look like succulents or cacti. This has a slender stem.

This is a close up of the leaves, which fan out into a kind of coronet, rather like poinsettia and minute cream flower in the middle.

Any ideas anyone. Click on pics for close-ups.

After about 10 minutes of searching I found your plant. It's a Euphorbia Cotinifolia. Here is some information on Daves Gareden
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/62010/

Hope that helps you take care of this wonderful plant

Thanks so much VL. There's loads of info on the net now that I have the correct name. I see it mustn't be anywhere near frost.

Glad you found out the name. Stunning leaf colour.

Glad I could help. I love finding out mystery plants. I wonder why they would have cut off the name like that.

Yes, it's very frustrating here. There's not one garden centre in the area that labels up plant names and care instructions properly. Garden Voices forum, Dave's Garden and Google have to work overtime for me.

I have about 6 books on Mediterranean gardening and none mentions this lovely plant. I'm wondering if this is a new introduction and has to be nursed along.....I'll keep you posted.

Glad one of our fellow bloggers could help you intentify this plant. It must be a nightmare when you buy plants and are clueless about how to care for them due to lack of proper labelling. It is a very pretty plant though, like you, I like purple foliage and have just bought some purple leaved plants for my new border.
