Yang in a hammock

Can you see him? The silhouette of his tail is on the right. We have an awning halfway over the pergola and he's got himself comfy in it to make a kind of hammock. He's got shade up there from the pink trumpet vine and solanum - and company as we think that's where the chameleons walk about, judging by the droppings.

The awning has been a blessing because we've learned that even sun-loving plants like geraniums need a respite, so most of the pots have been brought over and we're still able to water them with our rainwater reserves in the three depositos. Like Gintoino over in Portugal, most of our plants are waiting for the Sept/Oct rains.....not long now. That's why it's such a pleasure visiting Cheryl in Kent, Yolanda in Holland and D in Devon to get my fix of lush greenery.

Oh yes, in our climate every potted plant needs its bit of shade. I even lost some sun loving succulents this year. I so much want a bit of rain!

I would happily send you some of Devon's green lushness, courtesy of - to date - two and a half months of more or less non-stop rain in return for just a little of that Spanish sunshine! And my cats would give anything to be able to stretch out in the hammock. They didn't manage it last year (too much rain) and this year looks like it's going the same way. Needless to say, all the lovingly potted geraniums are very sorry for themselves. We are, at this moment, a very gloomy, wet and bedraggled lot . . .

A chameleon in your garden - that sounds very exotic to me!

LOL, that looks very familiar to me. I don't have an awning like that but do have a fourposter. Guess what happened when the kittycats discovered it? :-D

An awning is always a good idea as it provides some necessary shade for people and plants even in a temperate climate like mine.

It's still very lush and green here thanks to all that rain. Please send some sunshine this way. ;-)

Oh I wish I could send some sunshine your way. But don't despair - I'm in UK next week and longing for some rain. Sod's law says it won't happen so get your gardening togs on.
