GUERILLA GARDENING.
I came across an article in the Guardian this morning which reminded me of a post by Sue at the Balcony Garden in Milan: all about people who go gardening in the small hours to beautify public spaces. Sometimes, ironically, they face prosecution, as in Reading borough where a public space was cleared of needles, broken glass and rubbish, flowers and shrubs planted and the Council have tried to prosecute the "guilty ones" under Health and Safety Rules. (What a mad world we live in).

I think that is very silly they would try to prosecute people of trying to beauty the place they live in. When is planting plants such a bad thing? Health and Saftey Rules...don't you think it's bad that there are broken glass and what not everywhere. I prefer the plants over the broken glass thank you. If I didn't have to deal with the wrong side of the law I would do guerrilla gardening here in my city because it really needs it.
I watched a programme on these people once. They are doing a fantastic job and I for one am on their side every time.
It's true - they do do a fantastic job and are very inspiring. Here in Spain and more so in Portugal, public spaces are well looked after with beautiful plants and fountains. In our town there are notices "Please respect the plants". Great request, eh.
I've been guilty of this in our local park. It is fun - although I need to figure out a better way to haul water when it it too hot and dry.
