Carissa macrocarpa - Natal Plum

Friend, Yvonne, gave us a tiny cutting of this gorgeous shrub last year and now it's going crazy. The smell of the jasmine-like blossom is divine. One day it will look like this.

There's a lot going on in our semillero. It's like the tryffids getting in there as the Paulownia leaves take up most of the space. But tucked at the back are a few Chirimoya seedlings. This is the custard-apple tree. The fruit is full of shiny large black seeds and we planted them just to see what would happen. I can never get over the miracle of a thriving plant from seed: I think all the loving talk to them must help.

Isn't exciting when seeds start sprouting? Only a gardener would understand that! And a custard apple tree too? Wow! The monkeys always got our fruit, that's animals, not children...

Hola! I have been trying to find this plant everywhere! I can not find it at all except in a bonsai version and that is not what I want. How can I get one :o(

Hello Radiant Earth Beauty. I cannot see anything on your blog and from your website Etsy, it looks like you're in Beijing.

My natal plum came from a friend's cutting. I've not seen it in a garden centre or nursery. Maybe if you Google you will find a company that can send you the seeds. Good luck with that.

Hello Heckerty. I hope you return to see that I've had difficulty in commenting on your blog - the pane just freezes.

Saw your beautiful quilt - colours like jewels, or rainbows.
